PotC 3
Woot! Just got back from PotC 3!
It's a really good movie!
I know some of the reviews have been saying it's confusing but no, no it's not. It's pretty straightforward and explains some of the confusing things about the last movie (ie. why Barbossa was so willing to go save Jack and why Tia Dalma brought Barbossa back to life).
Anywho, great movie! The story was great! Jack was great! Barbossa was great!
And below the cut is spoilers so beware.
Will dies.
Seriously.
The Flying Dutchman can't be without a captain so whoever stabs the heart of Davy Jones have to carve out their own heart and become the new captain. Jack was going to stab the heart (since he wants to become immortal) but before he can to that, Davy Jones stabs Will. As Will is dying, Jack helps him stab the heart making Will the new captain of the ship.
Davy Jones real job was to transport souls from Davy Jones Locker to the afterlife but because he stopped doing that he turned all squid-like and the rest of the crew was cursed as well (the curse is lifted when Will becomes captain). Will can now only be on land, for one day every ten years. He spends the day with Elizabeth (whom he married earlier in the movie) before sailing off on the Dutchman; after the credits there's a scene that takes place ten years later with Elizabeth and their ten year old son, waiting for Will to return for his day.
Other spoilers...
After POTC 2, it was speculated that Tia Dalma was the woman who Davy Jones loved. That is true. When they met she was a goddess and was the one who put him in charge of Davy Jones Locker, when ten years was up she didn't show up at their meeting place so he helped the Pirate lords trap her in a human body.
At the end of the movie, Barbossa steals the Pearl from Jack again but Jack outsmarts him and had already stolen Barbossa's map to the Fountain of Youth, which Jack is now going after in a little row boat (similar to the one he showed up on in the first movie).
And finally, Keith Richards does appear in a cameo as Jack's father. It's not what you expect though since he's the exact opposite of Jack; he's the way you expect a pirate to act (although you can tell he's a softy at heart).
