More Than Meets the Eye
Okay I actually went to see Michael Bay's Transformers movie. And it actually wasn't that bad. There were times when I wanted to kill Bay for his typical editing style and camera angles that normally drives me insane but overall I enjoyed it.
The ugly designs of the robots don't look as bad while you're watching it (for the most part at least). And although Megatron got changed a lot (wtf! Megatron isn't suppose to turn into a jet! He's suppose to turn into a gun!), his character wasn't the complete disaster I was expecting (the original Megatron is still better though). Although Megatron doesn't speak a lot (none of them do except for Prime), when he does speak you can really tell that Hugo Weaving did his homework on what Megatron sounds like.
I do however have one complaint though involving my favourite character Starscream...
Starcream I thought was really OOC in this movie. He seemed way too loyal towards Megatron in it and anyone who has seen a few eps of the show can tell you that Starscream is always trying to overthrow Megatron. He does run away fairly quickly towards the end which I thought was IC but that was really the only time when I thought they got Starscream right.
My other major problem with Starscream was his voice. In the movie he just has a generic voice (actually a lot of voices were generic) and it's easy to get his voiced mixed up with someone else. It's not whiny. Now I know some fans don't like his whiny voice but I find it adds to his character.
As a minor nuisance, he doesn't show up until near the end for the big Autobots/human vs Decepticons battle. He does live though (you see him leaving Earth during the credits) so if there's a second movie (I imagine there will be), I'm hoping they bring him back and do a better job with him.
