The Disney Version is Still the Best
Anyone remember that Robin Hood movie from the spring staring Russell Crowe? I watched it tonight. It was okay*, but what struck me the most was that it's nothing like the Robin Hood story. It's basically a Robin Hood AU as the only resemblance are the names of some of the characters.
It made me laugh though because you have professionals (usually published authors) whine and cry about how horrible fanfiction is, yet here is fanfiction that got made into a movie by a famous director. I guess fanfiction doesn't kill souls if the source is really old.
*It would have been a lot better if they kept the Robin Hood characters out of it and used original characters instead because the Robin Hood characters made the story really hard to get into.
