moar pics

This group of pictures is from a place just outside of town. It's also not very big as they do rescue, wildlife research and breeding endangered animals. The cool thing about this place though is you can go on a feeding tour (for free!) and really see the animals being active.

This is seriously the only zoo I've ever been to where the snow leopards have done something more than sleep the entire time.

btw these are only a handful of pictures of what I took. I have mulitple pictures of each animal and am only posting the best ones. Not a lot of monkey pictures are here since they're so hard for me to get good shots of.

The freakin' otters were so hard to get pictures of. They're adorable to watch as they run around and play (one jumped on this hut right in front of me but I wasn't quick enough). After they ate they disappeared somewhere for a nap so I'm glad I got pictures when I did.

The feeding tour pictures start now. The lions up above are the same ones you'll see again soon. You just follow the normal path of the zoo and watch the zookepper feed them and talk a bit about each animal; it's really cool.

This guy is only a year old. Aww... He's mainly used as part of a education program right now.

This pair of tigers is their breeding pair. The male is fairly new there so no babies yet but hopefully soon.

The lynx weren't hungry so this is the best I got of them.

This is another type of lynx but different breed from the one above. These guys aren't the brightest; they kept having to be shown where their food was each time they came back for more. It was pretty cute, lol.

This would be the father of the first cougar.

Ricky the raccoon. This guy is hilarious. He loves picking out bananas and grapes from his food and dropping it in his water. The girl said she always has to change his water after each tour since it gets so dirty.

Here's the *gasp* awake snow leopards. They're sisters. The second one was hiding until everyone left. I ran back over though and got a couple of shots of her. She then disappeared again soon after eating.

The big one is a grey wolf, the white one an artic wolf and the other is a timber wolf.

More tigers. These three are their older ones who are retired from breeding programs. Two of the three have already passed the average life-span for tigers. ^__^

More artic wolves. Yeah they're eating out of her hand. It's a male and a female. I don't know if they're suppose to be breeding or not though.

Leopard. This species of leopard is really rare; there's less than 100 of them in the wild. They use to have a breeding pair but they both died so now they only have a brother and sister and won't be breeding anymore unless they can get another male. They actually sent the brother to another place for 6 years but he would always attack any female he was put with so he came back this year after his mother died and they neutered him and placed him alone, which was what he wanted.

Lastly here are two jagulars. The top one is the female and the other one is the male. Like the tiger pair up above, the male is new they're hoping for some babies (which they haven't had since the other male died). They actually got the male last year but it was through means of recusing him from a place where he was under fed so this is the first year they can hope for babies.
