'till all are one
I was watching the Transformers movie. No, not the Michael Bay disaster that's out in a few days but the original movie from the mid-80s.
Talk about blast from the past. I actually don't remember much from the TV show and had remembered nothing from the movie (although I figured I had watched it since I knew I had been a Transformers fan).
Mainly I only remember the toys. Those were the best toys. You could actually transform them between their robot form and the object they changed into. I remember always playing with the Optimus Prime one, always turning him into a truck. We also had Starscream which could turn into a jet and some others (I'm assuming we also had Megatron, since he was the main bad guy, but I was never interested in playing with guns). I guess about a month ago I saw toys from the new movie at Wal-Mart; man, they blow. Not only are they freakin' ugly but you can't transform them. 1980s toys pwn 2000s toys.
Anywho, I mainly wanted to watch the movie because my brother (who did remember it) told me that Optimus Prime died 10 minutes in. I didn't believe him because, hello! Prime is the main hero of the entire series! No way would they be stupid enough to kill him off, especially so soon into the movie! Right?
Err... wrong.
10 minutes in, Prime gets killed by big baddie Megatron and then a few minutes later Starscream also bit the dust (heh, he was always my brother's favourite since he's such a jerk and always trying to betray Megatron and take over the Decepticons for himself; after watching the movie, I'd have to agree with my brother, Starscream is the best!). I'm told that then in the TV series, Hot Rod, aka the punk who caused Optimus Prime's death, became the main character but ratings dropped so much they had to resurrect Prime but at that point it was too late and the series was canceled.
Man, now I want to see if the series is downloadable.

I love Starscream. He had the MOST annoying voice in the cartoon, but damn it, it gave him character. He was the only one with a personality. Him and Bumblebee... the little gay yellow autobot. Yeah... love those two.

Starscream does have an annoying voice but it suits him. Bumblebee was barely in the movie so I can't really comment on him.

He then orders a retreat and was just going to leave Megatron there but another Decepticon carried him off. Then while they're in space, Starscream decides they need to "lighten the load" of their spaceship so he dumps Megatron out into space and declares himself the new leader.
Then finally during his coronation to be their new leader a repaired/upgraded Megatron shows up and kills him. That was a sad moment.
