Strikethough '07

I haven't posted about Strikethough'07 yet as I've been too busy keeping an eye on the Fandom_Wank page (all while screaming "WHY JOURNALFEN! WHY DO YOU HAVE TO ACT UP NOW? IF THIS KILLS YOU, WE'LL HAVE REAL PROBLEMS ON JULY 21ST WHEN HARRY POTTER IS RELEASED!!!!!).

Now normally I don't get worried about this kind of stuff since I always figure it's just fans being paranoid but this is getting me nervous as it appears to be the real deal. Support groups for victims got caught up in this mess and had their comms deleted; if LJ is giving them the same response as the fandom ones are getting, than those comms are gone for good; that's what really bugs me the most.

I also have concerns that since a Lolita comm was deleted, what's to stop them from going after people with interest like Cardcaptor Sakura, Angel Sanctuary, RG Veda and other anime/manga? Only the interests are being looked at, not the actual content of the journal, so many people could easily get screwed. And there's also the fact that someone has been listing yaoi comms to the WfI peeps hoping that they'll then report those comms.

Personally I don't like shota and I'm picky with what incest pairings I like (unless it's twincest, which I do muchy enjoy) but what's going on is just wrong. (As a side note though, I'm amused at how many times new on this incident has appeared on my flist since normally big LJ wank doesn't make it)

That was my reaction too... I had ignored it believeing it to be simple hysteria, and following on from the Fanlib thing as well, until I saw a post about on my own flist, and then we spoke on AIM and I got a kick in the ass telling me 'no...it's not a rumour, where have you been?'

So I figured that I would post about it myself. But hey, they've admitted they've f-ed up, so hopefully things will return to some state of normal.
