Again with Strikethrough '07

LiveJournal admits they screwed up. And it looks like the deleted journals/comms will be able to be restored. I still don't like LJ's attitude though.

Strikethrough 07 never affected me but I'm still not going to anything other than a free account right now (until today I had a Sponsored account and had planned on getting a paid account in June). I can live without the icons, the mood theme was really the only thing I didn't want to lose and it stayed with me even after I dropped down to a free account (ha!).

Yeah... at this point, I'm glad they finally said something, but at the same time I'm still really pissed for what has happened and what it means for the future. It's going to be RIDICULOUSLY difficult for LJ to reestablish the trust between it and its clients, specifically the fandom users. They admit they fucked up, but what do they plan on doing to amend it? I dunno, I'm being really stubborn with this because it was a pretty big deal and opened up this whole other can of worms that was above just fanfiction and fandoms on LJ. Not to mention the fact that people were panicking and left in the dark for two days until they said something...

Anyway, I'll just wait to see the cleanup and damage control LJ does before I decide anything.

Taking two days to say something was really getting to me. I honestly think they were hoping it would just disappear if they kept quiet. And I really think they wouldn't have done a thing if so many people hadn't threatened to stop giving them money. Someone said this at one point on FW and I agree with them: We in fandom may not make up the most of LJ's users but we probably spend the most money on paid accounts and extra icons.
