Claymore

I started reading the manga, Claymore last night. I needed something new to read and the summary seemed interesting enough since it's about this half-human, half-demon hybrid who travels from town to town killing demons.

So far, I'm only 18 chapters in but I decided to post my first impressions on it.

Honestly, throughout the first chapter I wasn't sure how much I was going to like it. The plot was fine but I wasn't feeling the main character, Clare. She seemed too stoic and emotionless, robotic almost. And while those types of characters are fine for side-characters, I wasn't sure if a main character like that would hold my interest since I get bored rather easily.

But I kept reading and over the next few chapters, I began liking Clare a lot more since she starts developing into something more than a robotic killing thing. Right now, I'm really enjoying the series.

One thing I really love though is that the Claymores (the half-human, half-demon hybrids who hunt demons) are only women. It's really refreshing seeing women being special in a genre that is dominated by male characters. The lack of women compared to the number of guys in manga/anime is always something that has annoyed me, despite loving the girls that are around. I like having cool girls that I can fangirl.

You will see more of them :D. Nah who can resist kick ass women with kick ass swords? And one is a sadist :P.

Yup, it's really good! I remember you mentioning it a few times and been wanting to read it for awhile. ^^

I've been meaning to read Claymore, but haven't had the time (I started watching the anime and was really interested in it).

Really, really agree with this. I was actually disappointed with a male friend when he said he was disappointed that the Claymores were only women.

Claymore does have some flaws (something I feel like it's rushing through things too quickly) but it's enjoyable. I heard the anime is also suppose to be good but I haven't watched it yet.

Pfft, most other series have cast where the majority of characters are male. It's about time there was a series that was mostly female.
