Yaoi fans aren't destroying the universe

You know it's kinda (and by 'kinda' I mean very) annoying when fans blame female hate on yaoi fans.

I mean look at the CCS fandom. Most of the Kaho hate comes from the Eriol/Tomoyo fans. And on the flip side of a male getting hated upon for getting in the way of an OTP, most of the Yukito hate comes from the Touya/female-of-their-choice fans.

Or look at the Bleach fandom. The Ichigo/Rukia vs Ichigo/Orihime fights are infamous. I'm not even in that fandom and I've heard about Ruika fans bashing Orihime and Orihime fans bashing Ruika.

In the Reborn fandom one of the first things I saw was Tsuna/Haru fans bashing Kyoko (which was a big factor on why I was never that interested becoming involved in that fandom).

I'm not denying that some yaoi fans bash female characters and some do hate them for solely "getting in the way of their OTP". But it seems ridiculous to single out yaoi fans as the sole reason females get bashed all the time.

Well the only thing I can say is that yaoi fandom bashes girls in a more overt fashion. Het fandom bashes girls a manner that's not quite as overt but just as ugly.

Seriously. Character bashing because one 'gets in the way' isn't in any way exclusive to yaoi. If it were then there wouldn't be huge het ship wars and whatever. The only reason I think people are saying dumb shit like this is because yaoi has become much more prevalent than it was. Just because a few yaoi fangirls act stupidly, doesn't mean everyone that likes yaoi is a female hating, character bashing retard.

I never saw that in the Reborn fandom, but the Reborn fandom is so stupid about shipping in its own right. I'm so glad to be done with it, even at the risk of appearing flaky since I dropped out of Reborn News. I really wish I hadn't lost interest in the fandom so quickly, but I'll still continue to read the manga and discuss it with people on my FL, since there's no such thing as discussion on that community. It's all about how hot someone is, or how sexy A/B is, never anything of substance ;_; When even Tsubasa fanbrats can have more interesting, in depth discussions and theories than a fandom as a whole, you know it's time to pack up and leave.

I think it might have been on an old discussion of a chapter where the Kyoko bashing happened. They were talking about how worthless Kyoko is while Haru is sooooooo much cooler and how the series would be a complete waste if Tsuna/Kyoko ended up canon instead of Tsuna/Haru.

The endless fangirling really got to me in that fandom. I can fangirl with the best of them but it's not the only thing I want to do in a fandom. Like you said when Tsubasa fanbrats can have better discussions, you know your fandom sucks.

If I had to choose, I'd probably pick Tsuna/Haru since I like Haru a lot, but I think it's really unfair to judge Kyoko since basically the only thing we know about her is that she's very kind and likes cake. Actually, she's pretty much Haru if you take away the craziness and up the cute factor. I find it difficult to hate characters that haven't had much development at all D: (Yet, they love Chrome whom we don't even know that much about either, probably because she looks like Mukuro in female form).

Yeah, I know. It's really pathetic, to put it bluntly. I remember there was some post about Gokudera and in threads and threads of fangirling I tried to start some semblance of analysis/discussion and only ONE person responded.

I hate that! The majority of yaoi fans (in my experience) are intelligent, nice fans. I always hate to hear yaoi fans being tarred with the one brush when it's only a small minority of (usually very young and immature) idiots who go around making stupid statements and bashing the female characters on the sole basis of being female and "getting in the way of the gay". Ilogical, sexually frustrated teenagers who find two-dimensional, fictional females a threat should not be confused with a typical, sane yaoi fan.

That is my experience too with the majority of yaoi fans, they're nice and intelligent. I know there are stupid yaoi fans but they are few in number compared to normal yaoi fans.
