Summer Movie Season!
Since I'm within days of seeing the Dark Knight (I had/have time to see it now but I've been banned from seeing it by friends until we can see it all together, lulz), I figured I'll give my opinions on other movies I've seen so far this summer since I haven't mentioned them since Iron Man.
No spoilers to worry about (since I know not everyone can rush to the theatre each week) and this is not the order I've seen them in (since I can't really remember the order, lol).
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Okay, I'll be honest, I think it's the weakest of the four Indy movies. That being said, it's still a really fun movie to watch. A lot is unbelievable with terms to the plot, but lets face it, the Indiana Jones series was never about accuracy (I mean c'mon, hearts being removed from bodies without blood and magical stones that can kill you). Also I was really happy that my favourite Indy girl returned for this movie.
The Incredible Hulk - Much better than the last Hulk movie that was out a few years ago (and I really liked that movie!). The cast is better, the effects and the plot is better. My biggest complaint is that the last scene in the movie should have been one of those after the credits scenes. It was just weird having that last scene before the credits.
Get Smart - As a kid whenever I went to Florida I would watch the show at night on 'Nick at Nite' (alas we didn't get the show here) so I was looking forward to this movie and I'm happy with the results. The cast was pretty much perfect and it had really fun gags/jokes. I liked the other movies better though and they should be watched first.
Journey to the Center of the Earth - Out of the ones, I'm mentioning today, this near the top of my list for the best. It reminded me of movies I grew up on during the 80s when there were lots of fun adventure movies that were good for the entire family (like the Goonies). The only difference is that this is in 3D. The 3D aspect reminded me of a ride you'll find at Universal Studios, except longer. Definitely see the 3D version if you can (I really can't say what the 2D version is like since a lot of the excitement came from the 3D). I really hope they do the sequel that they hint at, at the end of the movie.
Mamma Mia! - Mindless fun with good music. It's not a movie to take seriously. It's just a dumb, happy movie. Plotwise, a lot of the relationships were left under developed (except for the mother/daughter one). So leave your brain at home and just go for a good time.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army - The effects in this movie are STUNNING! I was blown away by the special effects. Plotwise, I like this one better over the first one; I like the villain better, he was rather cool (and I swear, he and his sister had something going on). I can't really say how it compares to the comic since I never read Hellboy but the movie is certainly good.
Wall-E - So damn cute! You know how CLAMP gets when they'd doing sugary sweet stuff (like CCS or the current TRC chapters)? That's a good way to describe Wall-E. So damn cute! I really can't say a bad thing about it. Wall-E is such a dorky and sweet robot, while Eve is pretty badass. Easily it's one of the best animated movies ever made.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - Almost forgot about this one! The first movie is a lot better. This one is fun but a lot more was changed from the book. I really didn't like the Susan/Caspian romance, mostly because I'm a Caspian/Lucy fan but now I fear that subtext will be downgraded/cut entirely from the next movie. I was really looking forward to some cute Caspian/Lucy in the next movie. :(

As for Prince Caspian, it probably helps that the last time I read the book I was about 8 years old and so I really don't remember what was supposed to happen at all. I intentionally didn't re-read it right before seeing the movie because I knew that would make me enjoy the movie less. So I actually liked that movie a lot. It helps that I find Ben Barnes (Prince Caspian) extreeeemely attractive. ;)
