Wha-?

Cardcaptor Sakura. Forget the love triangle, this has a love dodecahedron! Syaoran loves Sakura but doesn't realize it, and Sakura and Syaoran love Yuki but Yuki loves Touya but Mirror love Touya and Akizuki loves Touya too, and hates Yuki but that's really cause she hates Yue who loved Clow but Clow loved god knows who, maybe it was Yue, but then Clow later loved Mizuki but Touya loved Mizuki too, and top it all off, and Tomoyo's got the hots for Sakura as well.

That has to be the most bastardized summary of CCS that I've ever seen. I didn't even recognize who some of the characters were at first.

And I wouldn't really consider any of the relationships in CCS to be a 'love triangle'. It's plainly obvious that Yukito doesn't return Syoaran's and Sakura's feelings. Nor does Touya return of the feelings of the Mirror Card and Ruby Moon. Plus Touya was long over Kaho when she showed up in the series so she was never a danger to his relationship with Yukito and he was never a danger to her relationship with Eriol.

Why even mention the relationships? The plot is magical cards, not who screws who! This reminds me of those HP fans who thought Harry/Hermione's relationship was more important to the plot than defeating Voldemort and the story sucked when H/Hr didn't happen.

I watched this anime 2468436 years ago. Good times, old times. Me and my elementar school mates would fangirl over it everyday.
But ....Whos Mizuki?

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2009-05-24 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Mizuki is Koha, the she-devil slut who dared to date both Touya and Eriol at two separate points in her life.

I actually had to stop and think who 'Mizuki' was too since most people just call her 'Koha'.

Ohh now I know whos that!
Thanks for reminding me lol :P

Where did you find this, anyway?

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2009-05-24 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It was some manga forum (I can't remember which one) where a person was asking for shoujo recs.

Which is fine since CCS is a good shoujo to recommend but I can't help but think that someone is going to be disappointed if they read CCS expecting a huge romantic story.

Er, Yuki/Syaoran/Sakura IS a love triangle. Very much so. A romantic relationship involving three people is a love triangle. The outcome isn't really hard to guess (even more so when you read it in hindsight) but that doesn't change what it is.

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2009-05-24 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. Yukito never once showed a romantic interest in either Syaoran or Sakura. To me, a love triangle would involve all three parties. A good example is in Fruits Basket where you have two guys who both love the main character while she in turn loves them both and could have ended up with either one of them. In CCS it's really just Syaoran and Sakura crushing on Yukito.

From wiki: A love triangle is a romantic relationship involving three people. While it can refer to two people independently romantically linked with a third, it usually implies that each of the three people has some kind of relationship to the other two.

You can't just rewrite what a love triangle is. O_o

in CCS it's really just Syaoran and Sakura crushing on Yukito.
Later, it's also Syaraon->Sakura->Yuki as well.

I agree that a love triangle involves three people.

What I'm trying to say is that I don't think Yukito should be counted as the third person due to his personal feelings. He's not a factor when it comes to Syaoran's and Sakura's relationship because even without Sakura's crush on Yukito, Syaoran would have still spent the entire 2nd half of the story trying to confess to her since that's simply how he is.

If Yukito is counted as a third person, then I think you have to consider his feelings as well and include Touya. So then you get:

Syaoran --> Sakura --> Yukito <--> Touya

And I'm honestly not sure what that would be called.

That's not what a love triangle is though. Three people being involved is all that counts.

There are different ways of looking at it too. You can have all four.

Or you could have Sakura->Yukito<->Touya. That, in itself is another triangle as well.

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2009-05-25 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Okay then, I admit that I was wrong.

If it only involves three characters than there's quite a few triangles since you also have:

Tomoyo --> Sakura <--> Syaoran
Ruby Moon --> Touya <--> Yukito
Syaoran --> Yukito <--> Touya
Yue --> Clow <--> Yuuko

It can get crazier. Let's go to HP4.

Ron->Hermione<->HarryimaginedbyRon.

And that's just looking at it through the lense or Ron being unaware of Hermione's feelings. Love triangles get a bad rep because of dumb overblown soapy stuff, but they can actually be really interesting, complex and amusing.

(It's Kaho, isn't it?)

Ahaha that's so lame! CCS has awesome pairings but the plot is just as awesome =3=

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2009-05-25 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Ick. It is Kaho! I always get the 'o' and the 'a' mixed up. Seriously I have more trouble spelling her name than I do any other CLAMP character.

OMG! Best summary EVER!

j/k

No one's going to read the manga with a lame and stupid summary like that.
