Ficcie Talk

I know, I know, I really need to be working on RS and the mpreg butttttt...I'm having too much fun with the next chapter of HC. Mainly because I like to "screw" people over and throw in surprises. :P

In a rare twist of events though I'm working on all three fics at once. Normally I only work on one at the time. This system works for me, but alas the system is now dead (for the time being).

Regardless RS will be the next update since that is what my wifey wants (and what my wifey wants, my wifey gets). That fic is coming to an end and once it is over, I think I'm going to focus on the other two fics for a bit before starting another one. It's tough writing three fics at once and I've got some one-shot ideas I want to do but have no time for.

Yeah I've been thinking about leaving too.

At first it seemed cool but a lot of the people posting there are dumb. Like I've gotten into an argument with people over having names spelled right in fiction (they apparently thought didn't see what's wrong in spelling names wrong), Nenya got in a fight with someone because she told someone rape wasn't suppose to be fluffy (they disagreed) and now this incident.

I don't even have it on my friends list anymore because of the earlier stuff so I have not clue what the bitch said as I only check once a day. I don't think I'm going to bother to look as I know I'm just going to get mad and think I'll just go leave it now before ending up in a big fight (because I would not be able to keep my mouth shut). It's not cool to be rude to people who are trying to help you. >_<

I lurk at a place called fandom_wank which is a lot better but unfortunately they're not LJ (they're at some other LJ type place). I've been going through their older posts and fanficrants gets brought up a lot for negative stuff. Looks like a lot of people don't like them and I'm not surprised.

Yeah I left the group. It was starting to piss me off anyway and I felt like they were spamming my friends list because there were so many posts. That girl really made me mad though; not even the fact she didn't like my fics, I can deal with that, just that she picked at them for stupid things, like the the separate bodies (when I *did* mention they'd separated, even if I didn't give a long account of how) and then after she "apologized" to me and I didn't reply she merely left another long rant. Also she said she was "elitist" and dogged the fics ppl rec'd to her instead of thanking them for the help. Not cool at all.

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
She really isn't bright. Part of the YGO fandom is to have them have seperate bodies with little to no explaination. No one wants to read a fic that has the first 10 chapters dealing with how they got their bodies and then the next 20 dealing with the actual plot. Most authors don't finish fics as it is but the bitch was basically demanding that for every fic written an extra subplot should be added explaining things that have nothing to do with the story.

Instead of whining saying she wanted Kura/Malik fics, she should have done the work herself. Either that or make a list of the things she wanted in a fic so people didn't waste their time just to have her insult good fics.

You know what really gets me thought about her? A few years ago a small group of fans tried to get people using the name 'Yalik' for Marik by messing together the name 'Yami Malik'. They came up with it through silly fun and spent most of their time joking around, writing crackfics and coming up with gay-ness conversations between characters. Anywho just the other week the girl admitted being apart of the 'Yalik' group so I figured for sure she would have loved your fics because they're so funny. I guess she's now too "mature" for that type of stuff. *rollseyes*

[identity profile] pysche924.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! She hates "fanon" and that's one of the biggest fanon things ever. In her new rant she said she hated people making Malik flamboyantly gay and Marik and Kura senseless kleptos. But that's what crack/humor fics tend to do. Really, she should get out of the YGO fandom if every single thing bothers her.

I've said it before - people take fanfic WAY too seriously. I do care about my stories and I want them to be as good as possible, but mostly they're just practice for my writing skills and a fun hobby. I'm not going to nitpick them or expect them to be anywhere near as good as a published novel (though some of them are better than crappy novels I've seen). It's not worth getting into fights and being an overall bitch just because someone wants to write something crazy and OOC, especially when it's obviously just for fun anyway.

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL!

Kura's a thief! Of course he's going to be a klepto! For being such a big YGO fan she seemed to have missed that part. LOL

As for Malik he's in handful of scenes (seriously you can count them on one hand) where he's not out for revenge or hanging out in someone else body do to Marik controling his. How the hell is anyone (except for Takahashi of course) supposed know how he'd act. He's finally able to live his own life for the first time ever, it's called character development. Anyone can write Malik the way they want but most go towards the flamboyantly gay because it's ya'know FUN! LOL

She's starting to remind me of those bitches from PP who flamed Dragon that one time and claimed that people don't change over time.

Part of me now wants to go back and have some 'fun' with her stupidness but I don't think she'd get it.

[identity profile] pysche924.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
lol, she probably wouldn't. Makes me want to make Malik the biggest flamer ever in my new story... though I can't make Kura a klepto since he'll be going through a forced reform. It's fun to imagine what Malik would be like starting his new life over after everything that happened to him. And like you said, who knows if it's OOC because nobody knows what he'd be like then.

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It'd make me happy if you did Malik like that. ^^

Malik, Bakura and Yami are all a clean slate when writing because all of them are living a normal life for once. That's one of the reasons why I love the YGO fandom so much. With other fandoms the characters are defined so well it's harder to write. Even with YGO I barely touch characters like Honda, Jounouchi, Anzu, etc whose characteristics are so well known.

[identity profile] pysche924.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
It'd make Bakura happy if Malik was like that too. ^^

You're right, the reason why I love writing YGO fanfic so much is that, unlike other fandoms, it's full of holes and opportunities to jump in and expand on the characters. That's one reason OOC comments tick me off, because they can be interpreted so many ways.

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate OOC comments too. There's so much room to develop these characters in fanfics. Even with Seto who has somewhat of a normal life there's room to expand because the only times we see him briefly break his business/duelist face is when Mokuba is safe after being in danger.

Now if someone wrote Jou as a bookworm I can see someone making a OOC comment but I would hope Jou as a bookworm was done to be OOC on purpose.

[identity profile] pysche924.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
*imagines Jou as a bookworm*

Nah, just can't see it. Now, if he was pretending to be a bookworm to pick up chicks that hung out at the library or something...

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2006-02-15 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL!

Now I'm picturing him in a trendy coffee house on campus with poetry books piled around him, pretending to read them, in a lame attempt to pick up chicks.
