Stuff

Picked up the last 4 volumes of Tokyo Babylon today at the store. I ended up spending so much they gave me a free $10 gift card to use next time. Already I'm wondering if I can use the card on their website to order Gohou Drug (after re-reading the scanlations last night I realized I really should get it sooner than RG Veda since pages are missing from the scans and the quality isn't that great for part of vol2).

And my almost 14 year old dog had a decent check-up at the vets today. Yay! I don't talk as much about Rusty but he's my baby and has been sick a lot throughout his life. Even our vet was surprised earlier this year when Bear died instead. It was the weekend when Bear got sick and was put to sleep so on the following Monday she thought they got the dogs mixed up at first when they told her what happened.

Aw, sorry to hear about Bear, and glad that Rusty got a clean bill of health! My Chani-girl almost made it to 16 yrs, which is at the far end of the scale for Chows; I've often thought it ironic that the day she was diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer, the vet's assistant had greeted us at the door with "You're looking pretty good for a geriatic Chow, Chani!"

I still miss her so badly sometimes, she was my sweet and sassy Hoosier girl. It'll be 4 years in January. Why do my Chows always go in the winter?

*sigh*

I always found Chows to be adorable.

I know the feeling, Bullet, the dog I had as a kid, had his best check-up in years, less than a month later on our on way home from Florida he has a bad stroke and we were really concerned we wouldn't get him home (we were driving). Patches, my other dog as a kid (who died 6 months after Bullet) was another one; that night we had her out trick-or-treating with us and a few hrs later she was paralyzed (turns out she had tumors or something on her spine). Then there was Bear, the only warning we had with her was the night before she died, when she wasn't acting like herself (she was fine during the day), took her to the vets the next morning and they tell us she has internal bleeding from an unknown mass and that even with surgery there was an 80% chance the same thing would happen in 2-4 weeks. *sighs*
